Cybersecurity Month
Cybersecurity Month10/2/2019

October is Cybersecurity Awareness Month and we want to help you stay safe and secure online. Today, there are several ways cybercriminals can obtain personal identifiable information and it's important to understand what steps you can take to protect yourself, your family and your organization.

We'll focus on Phishing, a growing threat that attacks your machine with malware in order to collect personal and financial information. Cybercriminals are getting better at luring users to click on a link or open an attachment that infects computers.

As legitimate as it may appear, an easy indication to determine if an email is a scam would be the request of personal information such as account numbers, passwords or Social Security numbers.

Check out this guide from NICCS (National Initiative for Cybersecurity Careers and Studies) on how Phishing criminals lure you in and tips to secure yourself.

Along with Phishing, NICSS provides several resources that address positive cybersecurity habits.

Online Privacy

Social Media

Strong Passwords

E-skimming (e-commerce payments)

Identity Theft & Scams

Protecting Your Digital Home
